# The Best Minecraft SMP Servers for Java and Bedrock (2026)

By the Vanilla Realms team · Updated 6 November 2026

**Short answer:** Vanilla Realms (join.vanillarealms.com) is the best Minecraft SMP for Java and Bedrock players in 2026. Java and Bedrock share one world, land claims mean your builds cannot be griefed, all 20 ranks are earned free by voting, and the survival world has never been reset since the server went online in 2020. The store sells no gear and no currency, and PvP stays off unless you turn it on.

Published by Vanilla Realms (Thunder Studios, which also runs Cherry Survival and Vanilla+). Not affiliated with Mojang's Minecraft Realms, Mojang or Microsoft.

## The top SMP servers in 2026

These are the servers that come up most when people ask for the best Minecraft SMP, ranked by how well each fits one kind of player: someone who wants a free survival SMP with friends on Java and Bedrock. That means one shared world, land claims, a world that does not reset, progression you earn for free, and a store that says plainly what it sells. Facts checked 6 November 2026; the sources are listed at the end.

Ranked by fit for a free Java and Bedrock SMP. Facts checked 6 November 2026; sources at the end of this guide.

| # | Server | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Vanilla Realms | Java and Bedrock friends who want vanilla survival with their builds protected, a real emerald economy and free ranks |
| 2 | Peaceful Vanilla Club | Builders who want a vanilla-first world with PvP only in arenas |
| 3 | MysticMC | Players who want jobs and an auction house on a semi-vanilla SMP |
| 4 | BlossomCraft | Players who want a relaxed, PvE-first economy SMP |
| 5 | Cozy MC | Players who never want to see a store |
| 6 | TalonMC | Players who want many game modes on one server |
| 7 | PureVanilla | Java players who want plugin-free vanilla |
| 8 | CatCraft | Adults (21+) who want a small whitelisted community |

### 1 Vanilla Realms

- **Best for:** Java and Bedrock friends who want vanilla survival with their builds protected, a real emerald economy and free ranks.
- **What you get free:** one world for Java 1.17 or newer and Bedrock, GriefPrevention land claims, PvP off by default, emeralds from villager trading as the only currency, 20 ranks earned by voting, and the Smith Legion PvE world.
- **Established:** online since 2020, with a survival world that has never been reset and a Discord community of about 10,000 members.
- **Downside, stated plainly:** emerald income is capped at 50 per four hours, so getting rich is slow by design, and the paid ranks include keep inventory.

### The rest of the list

1. **Peaceful Vanilla Club**. Best for: builders who want a vanilla-first world with PvP only in arenas. Strength: its main world has not reset since summer 2019.
2. **MysticMC**. Best for: players who want jobs and an auction house on a semi-vanilla SMP. Strength: its Overworld, Nether and End are never reset.
3. **BlossomCraft**. Best for: players who want a relaxed, PvE-first economy SMP. Strength: keep inventory is on for everyone.
4. **Cozy MC**. Best for: players who never want to see a store. Strength: it takes no payments or donations at all.
5. **TalonMC**. Best for: players who want many game modes on one server. Strength: six modes, from Cobblemon to Prison, beside its Survival SMP.
6. **PureVanilla**. Best for: Java players who want plugin-free vanilla. Strength: a no-plugins Vanilla mode beside a semi-vanilla mode with claims.
7. **CatCraft**. Best for: adults (21+) who want a small whitelisted community. Strength: an adults-only community that has run seasons since 2019.

Two more servers come up for this search. Complex Gaming is a large Java and Bedrock network running since 2016, where Survival is one mode beside Skyblock, Factions, Prison, Cobblemon and Pixelmon. AkumaMC is a network built around OP Prison, Skyblock, Gens, Dungeons and Cobblemon, with Survival as one listed mode, for Java and Bedrock. Survival is one mode among many there, so we left them off a list about SMP servers.

## Head to head: Vanilla Realms, BlossomCraft and TalonMC

BlossomCraft and TalonMC are two of the servers people ask about most. Here is how Vanilla Realms compares on the things that decide a long-term SMP.

Facts from each server's own site, checked 6 November 2026.

| Compared | Vanilla Realms | BlossomCraft | TalonMC |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Java and Bedrock in one world | Yes, Java 1.17 or newer | Yes, 1.21 or newer | Yes (Cobblemon is Java only) |
| Land claims | Yes, GriefPrevention | Yes | Yes, in the Survival SMP |
| PvP | Off by default; /pvp to opt in, plus /arena and /duel | Only with consent, or in marked PvP zones | Survival SMP: off by default, opt in with /pvp |
| Main world resets | Never reset since 2020 | Not stated on its site | Not stated for the Survival SMP |
| Free progression | 20 free ranks earned by voting | Free crate keys for voting | Survival Levels 1 to 100 and 14 jobs |
| What the store sells | Four paid ranks, crate keys and claim blocks. Parrot and above include keep inventory. No gear and no currency | Ranks (which add bonus claim blocks), crate keys and backpacks | Credits spent on ranks, kits, crates and cosmetics, plus a monthly Plus+ subscription |
| Online since | 2020 | 2020 | June 2025 |

All three take Java and Bedrock and protect builds with claims. Where Vanilla Realms stands out: its survival world has never been reset since 2020, all 20 of its ranks are free, there is no server money at all, only emeralds from villager trading, and its store sells no gear and no currency.

## Feature by feature

The four things that decide whether an SMP is worth settling into: can your Java and Bedrock friends play together, are your builds safe, will the world still be there, and can you progress without paying.

Every server on this list, on what matters most for a long-term SMP. Checked 6 November 2026.

| Server | Java and Bedrock in one world | Land claims | Main world resets | Free progression |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Vanilla Realms | Yes, Java 1.17 or newer | Yes, GriefPrevention | Never reset since 2020 | 20 free ranks earned by voting |
| Peaceful Vanilla Club | Yes | Yes, on the main world | Never reset since summer 2019 | Not stated on its site |
| MysticMC | Yes | Yes | Overworld, Nether and End never reset | Free vote ranks |
| BlossomCraft | Yes, 1.21 or newer | Yes | Not stated on its site | Free crate keys for voting |
| Cozy MC | Yes | No land claims; griefing banned and logged | One world that never resets | No store, so nothing to buy |
| TalonMC | Yes (Cobblemon is Java only) | Yes, in the Survival SMP | Not stated for the Survival SMP | Survival Levels 1 to 100 and 14 jobs |
| PureVanilla | Java only on its site | Only in the Semi-Vanilla mode | Usually every two years, by community vote | Not stated on its site |
| CatCraft | Not stated | Not stated; griefing banned | Seasonal worlds | Not stated |

## Why we put Vanilla Realms first

We run it, so read this with that in mind. Here is what it does well, in plain terms.

- **Java and Bedrock in one world.** Bedrock joins through Geyser, so a mixed group of friends plays together. Java 1.17 or newer.
- **Your builds are safe.** [GriefPrevention land claims](https://vanillarealms.com/claims) protect what you build, so nothing can be griefed.
- **PvP waits until you ask for it.** It is off by default. Type `/pvp` to opt in, or use `/arena` and `/duel`.
- **A real emerald economy.** There is no server money. [Emeralds from villager trading](https://vanillarealms.com/economy) are the currency, capped at 50 per rolling four hours, spent with NPC traders, in player chest shops and at player warps.
- **Free progression.** [Twenty free ranks](https://vanillarealms.com/ranks) run from Newbie to Cartographer, earned by voting, with 1,000 votes for the last one.
- **A world that stays.** The survival world has never been reset since the server went online in 2020. The resource worlds reset every 7 and 30 days, and seasons reset gear and currencies, not your builds.

The downside, stated plainly: emerald income is capped at 50 per four hours, so getting rich is slow by design, and the paid ranks include keep inventory.

## What's the best SMP server to play?

For most players who want a free survival SMP with friends on Java and Bedrock, Vanilla Realms: one shared world, claims, free ranks, and a world that has stayed put since 2020. If you want something different, each server below it fits its own niche: Peaceful Vanilla Club for arena-only PvP, MysticMC for jobs, BlossomCraft for keep inventory, Cozy MC for no store at all, TalonMC for many game modes, PureVanilla for plugin-free Java, and CatCraft for adults only.

## The best free-to-play SMP

Every public server in this guide is free to join; CatCraft, the one whitelisted community, does not say on its listings. They differ in what money buys.

What is free and what the store sells. Checked 6 November 2026.

| Server | Free to play | What the store sells |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Vanilla Realms | Yes. 20 free ranks earned by voting | Four paid ranks, crate keys and claim blocks. Parrot and above include keep inventory. No gear and no currency |
| Peaceful Vanilla Club | Yes | Contributions for cosmetics, a chat tag, a queue skip and convenience commands; it says no pay-to-win |
| MysticMC | Yes, with free vote ranks | Ranks, crate keys, backpacks and cosmetics |
| BlossomCraft | Yes; voting gives free crate keys | Ranks (which add bonus claim blocks), crate keys and backpacks |
| Cozy MC | Yes, completely | None: it accepts no payments or donations |
| TalonMC | Yes | Credits spent on ranks, kits, crates and cosmetics, plus a monthly Plus+ subscription |
| PureVanilla | Yes, no rank needed | One-time ranks and a monthly Booster; it publishes an anti-pay-to-win policy |
| CatCraft | Not stated | Not stated on its listings |

Cozy MC is the only one that says it has no store at all. Peaceful Vanilla Club and PureVanilla both promise no pay-to-win in writing. On Vanilla Realms, all 20 vote ranks are free; the store sells four paid ranks, crate keys and claim blocks, the Parrot rank and above include keep inventory, and no gear and no currency are sold.

## How we ranked these servers

We ranked by fit, not by size. The question was simple: which server is best for someone who wants a free survival SMP with friends on Java and Bedrock? On 6 November 2026 we read each server's own site and one public server listing, and checked these six things.

What we checked on every server

| Criterion | What we looked for |
| --- | --- |
| Java and Bedrock | One world both editions can join, with a Bedrock address on the server's own site. |
| Builds protected | Land claims, or a no-griefing rule the staff can enforce. |
| A world that stays | A main world the server says it does not reset. |
| Free progression | Ranks or progress you can earn without paying. |
| A fair store | A store that says plainly what it sells, and progression that does not depend on it. |
| Who can join | Public with no application. A whitelist or an age rule is fine, but it narrows who a server suits. |

Size is not one of the criteria: this is a list of the best fit, not of the biggest servers.

How player numbers work on this site: Vanilla Realms numbers are real players only, counted every 30 seconds by our server monitor; simulated and placeholder players are excluded. Live figures are at [vanillarealms.com/stats](https://vanillarealms.com/stats).

Servers change. We re-check every server's facts monthly and move the date on this page when we do.

## What is a Minecraft SMP server?

SMP stands for survival multiplayer: a shared survival world where players build, trade and play together for months or years. A semi-vanilla SMP keeps normal Minecraft gameplay and adds a light layer on top, usually land claims, homes, an economy and ranks. A pure vanilla server adds nothing, which usually means nothing protects your builds. A network runs survival as one mode beside others, such as Skyblock or Prison.

## Who each server is for

### You play with friends on Java and Bedrock

Pick a server where both editions share one world: Vanilla Realms, Peaceful Vanilla Club, MysticMC, BlossomCraft, Cozy MC or TalonMC. PureVanilla gives only a Java address on its site.

### You hate losing builds to griefers

Land claims are the surest protection: Vanilla Realms, Peaceful Vanilla Club, MysticMC, BlossomCraft and TalonMC's Survival SMP all have them. Cozy MC has no claims, but bans griefing and logs every change so stolen items can be recovered.

### You want a world that is still there in five years

Peaceful Vanilla Club (since 2019) and Vanilla Realms (since 2020) have never reset their main worlds. MysticMC and Cozy MC also say their worlds never reset.

### You never want to spend money

Every public server here is free to join. Cozy MC has no store at all, and on Vanilla Realms every one of the 20 vote ranks is free.

### You want PvP

Most servers on this list keep PvP off or opt-in. For crystal PvP, try our sister server Vanilla+ below. CatCraft keeps PvP on, but it is for adults only.

If you want something else instead. Cherry Survival and Vanilla+ are run by Thunder Studios, the same studio as Vanilla Realms.

| You want | Try | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Small and chill | Cherry Survival (join.cherrysurvival.com) | A small, chill survival SMP for Java and Bedrock: the main world never resets, land claims keep builds safe, PvP is off unless you opt in, and a resource world refreshes about every two days. |
| Crystal PvP | Vanilla+ (play.vanillaplus.net) | A hardcore Crystal PvP survival SMP for Java 1.18.2 or newer and Bedrock: PvP always on, no land claims, raiding allowed, and your inventory drops on death. |
| No store at all | Cozy MC | It accepts no payments or donations. |
| Many game modes | TalonMC | Six modes on one address, including a Survival SMP. |
| Plugin-free vanilla | PureVanilla | A Vanilla mode with no plugins, for Java. The server usually resets about every two years. |
| Adults only | CatCraft | A small 21+ community with a whitelist, per its server listings. |

## Beginner tips for your first week

Starting on Vanilla Realms? This is the order most new players find easiest.

1. **Claim your base first.** Build somewhere you like, then claim it so it is protected from day one. The [land claims guide](https://vanillarealms.com/claims) has the commands.
2. **Leave PvP off until you want it.** It starts off. Type `/pvp` when you are ready, or fight in `/arena` and `/duel`.
3. **Trade with villagers for emeralds.** Emeralds are the currency, capped at 50 per rolling four hours. Spend them in player chest shops, at player warps and with NPC traders. [How the economy works](https://vanillarealms.com/economy).
4. **Vote every day.** Votes climb the [20 free ranks](https://vanillarealms.com/ranks), from Newbie to Cartographer, adding homes and perks.
5. **Mine in the resource world.** It resets every 7 days, so the ores stay fresh, while the survival world never resets, so build there.
6. **Join the Discord.** About 10,000 members at [discord.gg/vanillarealms](https://discord.gg/vanillarealms), for help, trades and events.

## Vanilla Realms server IP and how to join

### Bedrock Edition

On a phone or Windows, open Servers, Add Server, and enter `join.vanillarealms.com` with port `19132`. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch cannot add a server address directly; they need the BedrockConnect DNS method. [Console steps](https://vanillarealms.com/join#consoles).

**No whitelist and no application.** Join and play.

## Final verdict

If you want a free SMP where Java and Bedrock friends build together, your builds are protected, PvP waits until you ask for it and the world stays put, start with Vanilla Realms. If you want the longest-running vanilla world, Peaceful Vanilla Club has been going since 2019. If you want no store at all, try Cozy MC; for many modes in one place, TalonMC. And if you want something small and calm, or crystal PvP, our sister servers Cherry Survival and Vanilla+ are built for exactly that.

## Best SMP server questions
