# Servers Like DonutSMP: Free Survival SMPs with Claims and an Economy (2026)

By the Vanilla Realms team · Updated 6 November 2026

**Short answer:** If you like DonutSMP's economy survival but want claims, no griefing and a calmer pace, Vanilla Realms (join.vanillarealms.com) is the closest free alternative in 2026. Land claims mean nobody can raid your base, PvP stays off until you opt in, player shops and NPC traders run on emeralds from villager trading, and 20 ranks are earned free by voting. Java 1.17 or newer and Bedrock share one world, never reset since 2020. To be plain about it: DonutSMP is far bigger, and its open PvP and raiding are the point for many of its players. Vanilla Realms is the fit if you want the economy and progression without the raiding.

Published by Vanilla Realms (Thunder Studios, which also runs Cherry Survival and Vanilla+). Not affiliated with DonutSMP, Mojang's Minecraft Realms, Mojang or Microsoft.

Real players only, counted every 30 seconds by our server monitor; simulated and placeholder players are excluded. Live numbers: [vanillarealms.com/stats](https://vanillarealms.com/stats).

## DonutSMP vs Vanilla Realms

DonutSMP describes itself on its official Discord as "a Minecraft Server where you try to become rich by selling any item in the game", and its owner's Discord page says griefing, stealing and killing are all allowed. Beebom calls it "by far the most intense Minecraft server". Here is how Vanilla Realms compares, on the things that decide which one suits you.

DonutSMP facts from its official Discord page and Beebom; Vanilla Realms facts from our own server. Checked 6 November 2026.

| Compared | DonutSMP | Vanilla Realms |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Cost | Free to join; its website is its store | Free to play; 20 ranks earned free by voting. Four paid ranks, crate keys and claim blocks. Parrot and above include keep inventory. No gear and no currency |
| PvP | On: its Discord page says griefing, stealing and killing are all allowed | Off by default; /pvp to opt in, plus /arena and /duel |
| Griefing and land claims | No protection: Beebom says you can raid other players and destroy their homes | GriefPrevention land claims, so builds cannot be griefed |
| Economy | Get rich by selling any item in the game, plus auctions | No server money: emeralds from villager trading (capped at 50 per four hours), player chest shops, player warps and NPC traders |
| World resets | Not stated in the official sources we could read | Survival world never reset since 2020 |
| Java and Bedrock | Java and Bedrock (Beebom lists an address for each) | Java 1.17 or newer and Bedrock, in one world |
| Size | Much larger: its Discord has more than a million members | Smaller: live real-player numbers at vanillarealms.com/stats; Discord of about 10,000 members |

DonutSMP is much larger, and if you want high-stakes PvP and raiding with a huge crowd, it does that better than we do. Vanilla Realms is for the same urge to build up wealth and progress, in a world where what you build stays yours.

## What is the same, and what is different

### The same

- A survival SMP where the goal is to build up and get richer over time.
- Player trading: on Vanilla Realms, player chest shops, player warps and NPC traders.
- Java and Bedrock players on one server, free to join.

### Different

- **No raiding.** [GriefPrevention land claims](https://vanillarealms.com/claims) protect your builds and chests, so nothing inside a claim can be griefed or stolen.
- **PvP when you want it.** It starts off. Type `/pvp` to opt in, or fight in `/arena` and `/duel`, with weekly and monthly tournaments.
- **A different economy.** There is no server money, so you cannot sell items to the server for coins. [Emeralds from villager trading](https://vanillarealms.com/economy) are the currency, capped at 50 per rolling four hours, so wealth builds slowly and prices hold.
- **A world that stays.** The survival world has never been reset since 2020. Crate seasons every two months reset gear and currencies, not your builds.

### What you give up

Size, and the rush of a world where anything can be taken from you. Getting rich is slower by design, and the paid ranks include keep inventory.

### 1 Vanilla Realms

- **Best for:** DonutSMP players who want an economy and progression without being raided.
- **What you get free:** land claims, PvP off by default, an emerald economy with player shops, 20 vote ranks, crate seasons and the Smith Legion PvE world.
- **Downside, stated plainly:** emerald income is capped at 50 per four hours, so getting rich is slow by design, and the paid ranks include keep inventory.

### Other alternatives

1. **BlossomCraft**. Best for: players who want a relaxed economy SMP with keep inventory for everyone. Strength: keep inventory is on for everyone, and griefing is banned. Economy: economy SMP with ranks, crate keys and backpacks in its store.
2. **MysticMC**. Best for: players who want jobs and an auction house without the raiding. Strength: jobs and an auction house on a no-grief semi-vanilla SMP. Economy: jobs and an auction house.

5. **Cherry Survival** (our sister server, run by Thunder Studios). Best for: players who want a small, calm SMP whose main world never resets. Strength: small enough to know everyone, with a player market and free level ranks. Economy: player market with seller ratings.
6. **PureVanilla**. Best for: Java players who want plugin-free vanilla, or a separate economy mode. Strength: a no-plugins Vanilla mode beside an Economy mode and a Semi-Vanilla mode with claims. Economy: a separate Economy mode.

## Which one should I pick?

Start from what you like about DonutSMP

| If you like | Try |
| --- | --- |
| Getting rich, but not losing it to a raid | Vanilla Realms: player shops, emeralds and land claims |
| Buying and selling at auction | MysticMC: jobs and an auction house |
| Keeping your items when you die | BlossomCraft: keep inventory for everyone |
| Levels and jobs to grind | TalonMC: Survival Levels 1 to 100 and 14 jobs |
| Fighting other players, on your terms | Vanilla Realms: /arena, /duel and tournaments, PvP off everywhere else |
| A big network with many modes | Complex Gaming or TalonMC |
| A small server where you know everyone | Cherry Survival, our sister server |

## Why we put Vanilla Realms first

We run it, so read this with that in mind. It is the one on this list that pairs a player economy, free ranks and opt-in PvP with Java and Bedrock in one world that has never reset since 2020. Your base, your chests and your shop are still there when you log back in.

**PvP arena** Armoured players fighting on the sand floor of a colosseum-style arena, the opt-in PvP world reached with `/arena`.

## How we picked these servers

We picked by fit, not by size: a free survival server with an economy or progression to chase, where your builds can be protected and PvP is your choice. On 6 November 2026 we read each server's own site and one public listing. DonutSMP's website sends visitors to its store and turns automated readers away, so its facts here come from its official Discord page and from Beebom, and say so. Vanilla Realms numbers are real players only, counted every 30 seconds by our server monitor; simulated and placeholder players are excluded ([vanillarealms.com/stats](https://vanillarealms.com/stats)).

**No whitelist and no application.** Join and play. [How to join, step by step](https://vanillarealms.com/join).

## Final verdict

If DonutSMP's raiding and open PvP are what you love, stay there: nothing on this list matches its size or its intensity. If you want its pull, building up and getting richer, in a world where your base is safe and fights happen when you choose, start with Vanilla Realms. For an auction house, MysticMC; for keep inventory, BlossomCraft; for levels and jobs, TalonMC; for something small and calm, Cherry Survival.

## Servers like DonutSMP: questions

### What are good servers like DonutSMP?

For economy survival without the raiding, Vanilla Realms (join.vanillarealms.com): land claims, PvP off by default, an emerald economy with player shops, 20 free ranks, Java and Bedrock in one world. Also BlossomCraft, MysticMC, TalonMC, Complex Gaming, Cherry Survival (our sister server) and PureVanilla. We publish this guide and run Vanilla Realms.

### Is there a server like DonutSMP without raiding?

Yes. On Vanilla Realms, GriefPrevention land claims protect your builds and chests, so nothing inside a claim can be griefed or stolen, and PvP is off unless you opt in. BlossomCraft, MysticMC and Cherry Survival also protect builds with claims.

### What is DonutSMP?

DonutSMP is a large Minecraft survival server. Its official Discord describes it as a server "where you try to become rich by selling any item in the game", and its owner's Discord page says griefing, stealing and killing are all allowed. Beebom lists it for Java and Bedrock.

### Is Vanilla Realms like DonutSMP?

In some ways. Both are free survival SMPs for Java and Bedrock where you build up wealth over time. The difference: on Vanilla Realms land claims stop raiding, PvP is opt-in, there is no server money to sell items for (emeralds from villager trading are the currency), and the survival world has never been reset since 2020.

### Is DonutSMP bigger than Vanilla Realms?

Yes, much bigger. DonutSMP's Discord has more than a million members; the Vanilla Realms Discord has about 10,000. Vanilla Realms publishes its real player numbers, with simulated players excluded, at vanillarealms.com/stats.

### Does Vanilla Realms have PvP?

Yes, when you choose it. PvP is off by default: type /pvp to opt in, or fight in /arena and /duel, with weekly and monthly tournaments. Nobody can attack you in the survival world unless you have turned PvP on.

### Can my base be raided on Vanilla Realms?

Not inside a claim. GriefPrevention protects everything in your claimed land, chests included. New players start with 2,000 claim blocks, and ranks and the store add more. Type /claim create or use a golden shovel to claim.

### Does Vanilla Realms have an economy like DonutSMP?

### Are there servers like DonutSMP for Bedrock?

Yes. Vanilla Realms takes Bedrock at join.vanillarealms.com port 19132, in the same world as Java; consoles join through BedrockConnect. BlossomCraft, MysticMC, TalonMC, Complex Gaming and Cherry Survival also take Bedrock players.

It is free to play with 20 ranks earned by voting. The store sells four paid ranks, crate keys and claim blocks; the Parrot rank and above include keep inventory. No gear and no currency are sold.

### How many players are on Vanilla Realms?

The Discord community has about 10,000 members. Live player numbers, real players only: [vanillarealms.com/stats](https://vanillarealms.com/stats).

### What is the Vanilla Realms server IP?

Java players join at join.vanillarealms.com. Bedrock players use join.vanillarealms.com with port 19132. Both editions share one world. Vanilla Realms is not Minecraft Realms, Mojang's paid hosting.
