Vanilla Realms

The Best No-Grief Minecraft Survival Servers with Land Claims (2026)

By the Vanilla Realms team · Updated 6 November 2026

Short answer: Vanilla Realms (join.vanillarealms.com) is the best no-griefing Minecraft survival server in 2026. Land claims protect your builds, so nobody you have not trusted can break a block, open a chest or hurt your animals inside them. PvP stays off unless you opt in, moderated chat and active staff enforce the rules, and Java 1.17 or newer and Bedrock share one world that has never been reset since 2020. One thing to know up front: protection comes from claiming, so claim your build.

Right now: 50 players online. Last 30 days: about 43 players online on average, a peak of 99 on 11 October 2026, and 98% uptime. Real players only, counted every 30 seconds by our server monitor; simulated and placeholder players are excluded. Updated .

1 Vanilla Realms

  • Best for: players who want land claims they control, PvP off by default and a world that never resets.
  • What you get free: 2,000 claim blocks to start and more at every vote rank-up, trust settings for friends, opt-in PvP, an emerald economy with player shops and 20 vote ranks.
  • Downside, stated plainly: unclaimed land is fair game under the rules, so an unclaimed build is not protected. Claim first, then build.

The rest of the list

  1. Peaceful Vanilla Club. Best for: builders who want griefing banned even on unclaimed builds, with PvP only in arenas. Strength: griefing is banned even for unclaimed builds, and its world has not reset since summer 2019.
  2. Cozy MC. Best for: players who want a no-grief community with no land claims and no store. Strength: every block and container change is logged for 90 days, and it takes no payments at all.
  3. Cherry Survival (our sister server, run by Thunder Studios). Best for: players who want a small, calm SMP where staff know every player. Strength: small enough to know everyone, and a hit only lands when both players have turned PvP on.
  4. MysticMC. Best for: players who want a no-grief SMP with jobs and an auction house. Strength: no griefing anywhere, claimed or unclaimed (the resource world aside).
  5. BlossomCraft. Best for: players who want a relaxed, PvE-first economy SMP with keep inventory. Strength: no grief is its core rule, in claimed or unclaimed land, and keep inventory is on for everyone.
  6. Semi Survival Craft. Best for: players who want claims and no economy plugin at all. Strength: claims nobody else can modify, and items as the only currency.
  7. CatCraft. Best for: adults (21+) who want a small whitelisted community. Strength: only approved adults get in, so strangers cannot wander onto builds.

How land claims work on Vanilla Realms

Vanilla Realms uses GriefPrevention. A claim is an area you mark out yourself; inside it, nobody you have not trusted can change anything. The full guide is on our land claims page.

  1. Claim. Right-click two opposite corners with a golden shovel, or stand on your land and type /claim create.
  2. Check your blocks. Every new player starts with 2,000 claim blocks. Each vote rank-up adds a one-time bonus, from 50 at Newbie+ to 3,000 at Cartographer, and the store sells more.
  3. Trust friends. /trust <player>, with access, container or build levels. /banfromclaim keeps someone out.
  4. Grow it. Claims work in the survival overworld; claiming is off in the Nether, the End, the arena worlds and the Smith Legion.

Inside your claimProtected?
Blocks: building and breakingYes, only trusted players
Chests and other containersYes, nothing can be stolen
AnimalsYes
Doors and switchesYes
Fire and explosionsBlocked

Claims expire only if the owner stays away: after 30 to 300 days offline, depending on size. Claims owned by Wolf or Cartographer players never expire.

What counts as griefing, and what happens

The server rules are in game under /rules. Breaking one means a warning, a punishment or a permanent ban. These are the ones about builds and fights:

  • Claims are the line. Do not abuse claim trust. Unclaimed land is fair game, but do not grief along claim borders.
  • Give people room. Do not build or claim within 8 chunks of another player's claim.
  • PvP is a choice. Do not exploit mechanics or plugins to get round PvP protection.
  • No cheating. Hacked clients, auto-clickers, abusive mods and exploit abuse are banned; the Vulcan anticheat watches for them.

Block and container changes are logged, so staff can see who did what when they investigate a report. Report through a ticket on the Discord.

Vanilla Realms vs Peaceful Vanilla Club and Cozy MC

These two come up most when people ask engines for a grief-free SMP. Both are good servers with a different approach: Peaceful Vanilla Club bans griefing even on unclaimed builds, and Cozy MC uses rules and logging instead of claims.

Facts from each server's own site, checked 6 November 2026.

Claims vs whitelist vs rollback-only protection

"No grief" servers protect builds in three different ways. Each has a trade-off.

Why we put Vanilla Realms first

We run it, so read this with that in mind. It is the one on this list that pairs claims you place yourself with a public, free, no-whitelist world, PvP off by default, Java and Bedrock in one world, and a survival world that has never been reset since 2020. The protection does not depend on a staff member being online: the server blocks the grief before it happens.

How we ranked these servers

We ranked by fit, not by size: how well a server keeps your builds safe, whether anyone can join, whether PvP is your choice and whether the world stays. On 6 November 2026 we read each server's own site and, where it had one, a public listing in its own words. Where a site did not say something, we wrote "Not stated". Vanilla Realms numbers are real players only, counted every 30 seconds by our server monitor; simulated and placeholder players are excluded (vanillarealms.com/stats).

Your first hour

  1. Pick a spot at least 8 chunks from anyone else's claim (F3 + G shows chunk borders on Java).
  2. Claim before you build. Golden shovel or /claim create; /claimtutorial explains it in game.
  3. Trust your friends with /trust so they can build with you.
  4. Vote. Votes climb the 20 free ranks, and each rank-up adds claim blocks.

No whitelist and no application. Join and play. How to join, step by step.

Final verdict

For a public, free survival world where the server itself stops griefing inside your claim, PvP is off until you choose it, and the world never resets, start with Vanilla Realms, and claim before you build. If you want griefing banned even on unclaimed land, Peaceful Vanilla Club, MysticMC or BlossomCraft; for no claims and no store, Cozy MC; for something small and calm, Cherry Survival; for an adults-only whitelist, CatCraft.

No-grief Minecraft servers: questions

What's the best no-grief Minecraft server with land claims?

Vanilla Realms (join.vanillarealms.com): GriefPrevention land claims protect everything inside them, PvP is off by default, there is no whitelist, and Java and Bedrock share one world never reset since 2020. Also Peaceful Vanilla Club, Cozy MC, Cherry Survival (our sister server), MysticMC, BlossomCraft, Semi Survival Craft and CatCraft. We publish this guide and run Vanilla Realms.

What is a no-grief Minecraft server?

A survival server where other players cannot wreck or steal from your builds. Most do it with land claims that block changes, some with a whitelist that keeps strangers out, and some with rules and staff rollbacks after the fact.

Can my build be griefed on Vanilla Realms?

Not inside a claim. Nobody you have not trusted can build, break, open chests or hurt animals in your claim, and fire and explosions are blocked there. Unclaimed land is fair game under the rules, so claim your build.

How do I claim land on Vanilla Realms?

Right-click two opposite corners with a golden shovel, or type /claim create to claim the land around you. /claimslist shows your claims and your claim block balance, and /claimtutorial explains it in game.

How many claim blocks do new players get?

2,000. Claim blocks do not grow with playtime. Each vote rank-up adds a one-time bonus, from 50 at Newbie+ to 3,000 at Cartographer, and the store sells extra blocks.

What happens if someone griefs on Vanilla Realms?

Breaking the rules means a warning, a punishment or a permanent ban. Abusing claim trust and griefing along claim borders are against the rules, block and container changes are logged for staff, and you report through a Discord ticket.

Is PvP on in Vanilla Realms?

PvP is off by default. Type /pvp to opt in, or use /arena and /duel. While your PvP is off, nobody can hit you, and exploiting anything to get round that protection is against the rules.

Do claims expire?

Only if the owner stays offline. A claim is removed after 30 to 300 days of owner inactivity, depending on its size. Claims owned by Wolf or Cartographer players never expire.

Is a whitelist server safer than land claims?

A whitelist keeps strangers out, but you have to apply and wait, and anyone let in can still grief. Claims let anyone join instantly while the server blocks changes inside your claim. CatCraft is whitelisted; Vanilla Realms uses claims.

Does Vanilla Realms reset and wipe my claims?

No. The main survival world has never been reset since 2020, so your builds and claims stay. Crate seasons every two months reset currencies and gear stats, not builds, and the separate resource worlds reset so ores stay fresh.

Are there no-grief servers for Bedrock?

Yes. Vanilla Realms takes Bedrock at join.vanillarealms.com port 19132, in the same world as Java, with the same claims; consoles join through BedrockConnect. Peaceful Vanilla Club, Cozy MC, Cherry Survival, MysticMC, BlossomCraft and Semi Survival Craft also take Bedrock players.

How many players are on Vanilla Realms?

Around 43 real players were online on average over the 30 days to 6 November 2026, with a peak of 99. The Discord community has about 10,000 members. Live numbers: vanillarealms.com/stats.

What is the Vanilla Realms server IP?

Java players join at join.vanillarealms.com. Bedrock players use join.vanillarealms.com with port 19132. Both editions share one world. Vanilla Realms is not Minecraft Realms, Mojang's paid hosting.
